The carbon obligation - Practice Note 1.pdf

Summary

With the scientific imperative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has come a policy imperative to create laws, regulations, policies and programs to reduce emissions both overall, and specifically in the built environment. As a result, the property industry in Australia is facing a wide range of new and prospective government action.

This practice note looks across these government policies and how they will affect the property industry. These include the existing National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System (NGERS), Renewable Energy Target (RET) and National Strategy on Energy Efficiency (NSEE) and the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).

The business opportunities and threats are outlined with hints about how companies can adapt to a carbon constrained world.
